We’re committed to providing a supportive and transparent learning environment, so this section is designed to help you understand our guidelines and procedures. Are we religious?No. We are not associated with any specific religion. We believe in a loving source of energy that is in all of us and is visible in nature. We respect other people's personal religious beliefs.

Are we inclusive?Yes, we are inclusive to everyone and do not discriminate based on gender, religion, race, ethnicity, or personal beliefs. We want our personal beliefs to be respected and we want to respect yours.

Can we accommodate special needs?Case by case. Rising Moon Meadows Learning Center is designed in a way to meet the various needs of the students who attend our program. Many children who attend our program have unique needs that can be supported through accommodation, modification, and the partnership we have with families. The best way to determine whether a child would be successful in our program is to have a meeting to discuss what makes them unique and goals for their education.

How does tuition/payment work?Tuition is calculated for the school year and then divided by 10 months (Sept- June) into 10 equal payments. Some months have more days/weeks while some have shorter weeks including winter and spring breaks. But the total cost per day stays the same over the year. Tuition is due by the first calendar day of each month. Payments will be considered late after the 5th of the month. A late fee of $5 for each day late will be assigned. A monthly invoice will be sent out and we accept credit/debit cards, cash, or a check made out to Rising Moon Meadows. Withdrawal/Refund: If for any reason you need to withdraw your child from the Learning Center, we ask that you give us 30 days notice. Once tuition is paid for the month, it is non-refundable (barring unforeseen emergent situations). If you have paid in full, the months not attended will be refunded. If 1 day of the month is attended that month is considered attended and only the following months will be refunded (barring unforeseen emergent situations).

What is a Private Membership Association (PMA)?A PMA is an association of members whose objective is to allow its members to conduct all manner of private business with the Association and the Association members, keeping all business in the private domain and utilizing the protections guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the Constitution to conduct business in private and to provide a platform for members to conduct business in the private domain under all protections acknowledged and guaranteed by the Constitution of the UNITED STATES, and any previous protections guaranteed. The wording in our membership form includes some religious-sounding language because it provides the strongest legal protection for a PMA in court. While our documents reflect this approach, We want to be clear that we do not teach or endorse any religion at the Learning Center. We welcome families from all backgrounds and respect different beliefs.

Behavior Philosophy and GoalsAt Rising Moon Meadows Learning Center, we believe that the values we uphold play a crucial role in the spiritual, moral, and social development of the children in our care. We emphasize: Kindness, respect, and responsibility—for oneself, others, property, and the environment. Integrity and fairness—ensuring that all interactions are guided by honesty and justice. Community and growth—fostering a culture where children learn, play, and thrive together. While some values are explicitly stated, they are most powerfully taught through example. A clear and consistent approach to behavior and discipline helps create a positive learning environment where children feel safe, respected, and motivated to engage. Our behavior strategy focuses on enhancing social-emotional well-being by: Encouraging engagement, motivation, and a sense of belonging. Helping children understand appropriate behaviors in different situations. Supporting children in recognizing and managing their emotions. Providing guidance to those who face challenges in friendships, cooperation, or self-regulation. Golden Rules Be Safe Keep yourself and others safe. Follow staff guidance regarding safety. Be Kind Be a good friend—kind, caring, and helpful. Be honest, truthful, and fair. Be Respectful Show respect for yourself, others, and the learning environment. Use polite words and actions. We deeply appreciate our community and your partnership in helping children grow into kind, capable, and conscious individuals. Together, we create an environment where children feel safe, supported, and empowered to learn and thrive.

Safety ExpectationsChildren are naturally inclined to take risks, and risk-taking can be an important part of learning and development. At the Learning Center we allow children to explore within safe boundaries. However, if a child engages in behavior that is deemed unsafe, staff will intervene by redirecting them and explaining the safety concern. If a child’s behavior causes harm to others or significantly disrupts the program, parents may be contacted, and an early pick-up may be required. Safety is our top priority, and we appreciate open communication regarding concerns.

Addressing Bullying, Intimidation and HarassmentRising Moon Meadows maintains a zero-tolerance policy for bullying. Definition of Bullying: Bullying is repeated, targeted behavior in which there is an imbalance of power. This imbalance may be based on age, gender, ethnicity, race, size, social status, or other factors. Bullying can include: Physical aggression or threats. Verbal or emotional abuse. Exclusion, gossip, or the spread of harmful information. Response to Bullying: Documented interventions will be recorded for incidents involving adult intervention. If a child is involved in three documented bullying incidents, families will be contacted to create an individualized behavior agreement. Bullying is treated as a safety concern and addressed accordingly. Children are encouraged to report bullying, intimidation, or harassment as soon as possible so we can respond effectively.

Handling Allegations and False TestimonyWe take all reports of inappropriate behavior seriously and assess all sides of an incident with the assumption of positive intent. If it is determined that a child has made an intentional false or misleading claim with the goal of harming another or avoiding responsibility, families will be contacted and appropriate action will be taken. False testimony disrupts trust and the safety of our environment. Repeated offenses may result in a behavior plan.

Managing Peer ConflictDisagreements among children are a normal part of development. Unlike bullying, peer conflicts are typically equal exchanges where both parties have the opportunity to learn and grow. In handling peer conflicts, staff may: Facilitate conversations between involved children. Encourage a cooling-off period before discussing the issue. Document incidents and involve families when necessary. Our goal is to equip children with conflict-resolution skills while ensuring a supportive and fair process.

Levels of Behavioral ConcernsMinor Offenses Many behavioral challenges are developmentally normal and occur due to stress, over-stimulation or misunderstanding social cues. Minor behaviors may include: Avoiding tasks or seeking attention in inappropriate ways. Using blunt or “rude” language without ill intent. Momentary emotional outbursts or frustration. We view these moments as learning opportunities and guide children using: Social corrections (e.g., role-playing, apologies, social stories). Positive reinforcement to encourage self-regulation. Greater Offenses Some behaviors require immediate intervention due to their impact on safety and the learning environment. These include: Intentional physical harm toward another. Severe or ongoing safety concerns. Disrupting the program in ways that prevent others from participating. Violating an existing behavior agreement. For greater offenses, families will be notified and a behavior agreement may be required to support the child’s success.

Participation and Program ExpectationsWe recognize that home school families have diverse learning goals. While participation in all activities is not required, children are expected to respect the structure of the program. If a child frequently declines participation, families will be informed so they can make informed decisions. We do not force participation but strive to create a positive learning atmosphere. Disrupting classes is not acceptable as it affects the experience of others. If disruptive behavior is persistent, we will collaborate with families on an individual behavior agreement.

Behavior AgreementsIf a behavior meeting is requested, it is because we want to partner with families to support a child’s success. Behavior agreements outline: Specific behaviors that need support. Prevention strategies to set the child up for success. Clear consequences if the behaviors continue. If initial agreements do not lead to improvement, further steps may include: Early pick-up on certain days. Adjusting attendance days. In rare cases, determining whether the Learning Center is the right fit at this time.

Do we offer make-up days?At Rising Moon Meadows Learning Center, we understand that occasional absences are unavoidable. To provide flexibility while maintaining program stability, we offer limited make-up days. Make-up days are intended to compensate for a missed day by adding an additional day to the schedule. They are not meant to replace enrollment days or supplement reduced schedules.

Eligibility for make-up daysNotice Requirement: Parents/guardians must notify us by 8:30am on the day of the absence for the child to be eligible for a make-up day. Use it or Lose it: Make-up days must be used within 60 days of the absence and do not carry over beyond that period.

Scheduling make-up daysBased on Availability – Make-up days are subject to space availability and cannot exceed staff-student ratios. Advance Request Required – Requests must be submitted by noon the previous day to allow for proper planning. Only on unenrolled Days – Make-up days may only be used on days the child is not already enrolled for the current school year. Example: If a child is regularly enrolled on Mondays and Wednesdays, make-up days may only be scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays. Dropped Days Are Not Eligible – If a family reduces their scheduled enrollment days, they cannot use previously accrued make-up days to supplement the dropped days. Frequent Cancellations – If excessive absences or cancellations become a pattern, we reserve the right to reassess make-up day eligibility. No Tuition Adjustments – Make-up days do not result in tuition credits or refunds. They are provided solely to help maintain consistent participation.

Policy NotesMake-up days cannot be used to adjust enrollment or reduce monthly tuition. Tuition is structured as ten equal payments to cover the full school year, providing a simplified predictable payment plan. It is not calculated based on fluctuating enrollment throughout the year This policy ensures fairness, prevents misuse, and helps maintain a structured learning environment.
